Coombe Curry Rich & Jarvis (CCRJ), a civil defense law firm, is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to support construction defect and civil litigation attorneys. Provide case management and support with litigation trial preparation in complex case files involving multiple parties, experts, and insurers by drafting, reviewing, and preparing pleadings, discovery requests, responses, subpoenas, and disclosure documents in compliance with Colorado and federal rules. Assist in summarizing depositions, organizing trial exhibits, and preparing case evaluations and settlement materials. Manage large volumes of construction-related evidence including contracts, change orders, inspection reports, expert opinions, and site photographs ensuring accuracy and accessibility for attorney review. Coordinate with experts, consultants, and co-defense counsel to align schedules and discovery responses. Docketing, scheduling, and coordination of multiple case deadlines, hearings, depositions, and mediation dates in construction defect matters, which often involve consolidated or multi-case schedules. Provide logistical and administrative support during mediations, arbitrations, and trial, ensuring attorneys have all materials organized and ready for presentation. Serve as the liaison among attorneys to maintain an accurate docketing system and proactively alert attorneys to approaching deadlines and required filings involving clients, carriers, and experts, ensuring clear and consistent communication. Professionally receive, screen, and transmit telephone and conference calls, taking accurate messages for timekeepers, clients, and staff as needed. Conduct internet research as directed by timekeeper guidelines. Prepare outgoing mail (including boxes/packages for shipment) and arrange messenger services as needed; process and route incoming mail, faxes, and electronic communications; perform tasks including emailing, copying, scanning, and faxing. Support miscellaneous tasks and special projects as required. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Court and Case Management:
Solid understanding of court operations and processes, rules and procedures for state and federal courts, drafting of all court documents, filings, disclosures, subpoenas, NOCs, and knowledge of C.R.C.P. Rules 16.2 and 26, electronic filing procedures. Knowledge of Construction Defect Action Reform Act (CDARA) is a bonus. Technical Skills:
Proficient in CO Courts E-Filing System, PACER, Colorado online filing programs. Experience with TABS and Practice Master is a plus. Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe. Financial Documentation Expertise:
Familiarity with drafting sworn financial statements and mandatory financial disclosures. Legal Terminology Proficiency:
Strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures relevant to the position. Communication Skills:
Friendly and supportive approach; ability to build effective professional relationships with attorneys, staff, and clients. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. Organizational Skills:
Capable of organizing, prioritizing, and multitasking while working under pressure to meet deadlines and provide exceptional client service. Experience Preference:
Experience in construction defect cases is required. Knowledge of civil defense, personal injury, and premises liability; familiarity with CDARA. Language Proficiency:
Excellent command of the English language, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and style, with the ability to type accurately at 75 words per minute. Benefits
