Responsibilities
Provide legal support services to prosecutors in the Catawba County office, including answering phones, assisting the public, typing correspondence, preparing legal documents, and preparing files.
Assist victims and witnesses in understanding and preparing for court; gather information to aid in prosecutions; manage daily operations of the victim and witness program; coordinate and schedule court appearances as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support prosecutorial efforts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge : court system and procedures; legal terminology; community resources to refer victims and witnesses.
Skills : Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); typing 35–40 wpm; handling a multi-line telephone system.
Ability : interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses; coordinate and schedule daily operations of the victim and witness program; manage court appearances; communicate with diverse populations; build effective working relationships with law enforcement and related agencies; remain calm under stress.
Salary Salary Range : $38,574.00 – $63,700.00
Education and Experience Graduation from high school, or an equivalency certificate, and two years of legal/secretarial experience. Some postings may allow an equivalent combination of education and experience; see the Education and Experience Equivalency Guide for details.
