Hematology Oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/PA)
The Cancer Institute is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Family certified) for a full-time position with the Hematology/Oncology department at Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital. This position provides inpatient support for Hematology and Oncology services, including Infusion Suite coverage with management of chemotherapy and infusion reactions. Typical duties include hospital consultations, hospital follow-ups, and bone marrow biopsies. Coverage typically follows a Monday–Friday schedule (roughly 8am–5pm) with weekend rotation every 2 months, subject to departmental needs.

The ideal candidate will have Oncology APP experience with management of infusion suites. Oncology experienced APPs are highly preferred; however, experienced or new graduates are welcome to apply. AOCNP (Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner) or OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certification strongly preferred.
AOCNP or OCN strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
Conducts thorough medical histories, performs complete physical examinations, initiates appropriate labs, radiology tests or other tests required for evaluation, and develops a working diagnosis and treatment plan in collaboration with the health care team.
Performs and interprets routine diagnostic procedures (laboratory, radiologic, cardiographic) as credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
Performs routine and specialized procedures as credentialed and privileged.
Prescribes and monitors medications as allowed by license and Cleveland Clinic policies.
Educates patients regarding disease, treatments, drug effects, and potential hazards.
Participates in medical team rounds; collaborates with nursing, medical and other health care team members to ensure quality patient care.
Refers patients to specialists for consultation or specialized resources and treatment.
Ensures continuity of care by coordinating with the multi-disciplinary care team and other specialties as necessary.
Participates in quality monitoring and review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes.
Facilitates appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and regulatory compliance for inpatient management.
Supports professional development of the health care team and promotes evidence-based practices, guidelines, and research.
May conduct research studies, assist in data collection and analysis, serve as a clinical preceptor for students, and onboard new caregivers.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Certifications
APRN
MSN required upon hire or within 3 years of hire for external hires and internal hires moving from a non-APRN role to an APRN role.
Graduate of an accredited APRN program.
Neonatal care service area requires Master’s Degree upon hire.
PA
Graduate of an ARC-approved Physician Assistant Program.
Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies and/or a higher degree from a program recognized by the state Licensing Board.
Languages
Oral and written English communication.
NP Certifications
Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in applicable state(s).
Licensed as an RN in applicable state(s).
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally accredited organization recognized by the state Board of Nursing.
BLS required; ACLS or PALS may be required based on work setting; NRP may be required in some settings.
Must have arrangements with at least one physician as required by state Board of Nursing.
Credentials and privileges must be granted by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
CNS Certifications
Current RN licensure in applicable state(s).
National certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
BLS and depending on work setting ACLS/PALS/NRP may be required.
Must have arrangements with at least one physician and be credentialed and privileged by the Medical Executive Committee and Governing Body of the applicable hospitals.
Work Experience
Related clinical experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk and stand for long periods; dexterity and hand-eye coordination for examinations.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges.
Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds.
May involve exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
