Overview
Personal Financial Counselor Fort Sill, OK — provides personal financial services at assigned military installations. Primary responsibilities include the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to military service members and their families, including one-on-one counseling, consultations with leaders or staff, conducting briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources outside the counseling session. Works with installation leadership and Points of Contact to ensure the program remains within scope and meets installation needs. Responsibilities
Provide personal financial counseling and management services directly to service members and their families. Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences. Develop and distribute informational financial materials for service members and families. Coordinate, publicize and deliver a wide variety of Personal Financial Management classes/workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and events per DoDI 1322.34). Respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars. Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic modes of communication (web-based, secure online chat, video teleconference) as appropriate and authorized by the program office. Manage duty-to-warn situations according to DoD protocol. Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing trends and issues across installations. Participate in in-services/training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. May consider an associate degree plus 4 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. May consider a high school diploma plus 6 years’ experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree. 3+ years of financial counseling experience. U.S. citizen and fluent in English. If required by the contract, bilingual in English and Spanish. Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation. Ability to pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process. One of the following certifications: Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC). General Information
