Human Resources Coordinator at WSFSSH, Inc.
This is a full-time position located in New York, NY. The actual pay will be based on skills and experience; base pay range is provided below. This role may require in-house presence four days a week and one day remote.
Base pay range $28.00/hr - $33.00/hr
About Us The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is a community-based organization responding to the need for low-cost housing. Our mission is to provide safe, affordable housing with supportive services within a residential setting that enhances the independence and dignity of each person. WSFSSH develops, manages, and provides social services in housing for low-income persons, especially those who are older, who have experienced homelessness and who live with mental illness.
Job Summary Under the supervision of the Managing Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for administrative duties including, but not limited to: updating the HRMS, creating and tracking all Personnel Action Forms (PAF), coordinating benefits-related paperwork with the Benefits Manager, ensuring paperwork is up to date, and assisting with recruitment functions. The HR Coordinator will support daily HR activities as assigned by the Managing Director of Human Resources.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Enter and maintain employee data in the HRIS, including new hire details, status changes, and other updates; file documents in appropriate HRMS or online filing; run reports and censuses as needed and to assist with audits.
Manage and process requests to hire and to post job openings in alignment with organizational procedures.
Coordinate offboarding follow-up, including documentation, system updates, and exit logistics.
Contribute to onboarding by assisting with new hire orientation, facilitating sessions, and ensuring timely collection of new hire paperwork.
Provide administrative support to the Managing Director of Human Resources by scheduling HR meetings and events as needed.
Support the Benefits Manager during open enrollment, leave of absence and disability paperwork for FMLA and workers’ compensation situations.
Support Recruitment with OMH/DOH background checks, posting jobs, setting up qualification questions, and scheduling online reference and background checks for potential hires.
Partner with the Learning and Development Director to track employee trainings.
Complete assignments in a timely manner and assist others with duties as directed.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong computer skills including Excel and Word.
Highly organized, able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Experience with HRIS/HRMS systems.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and diplomacy.
Strong collaboration skills and a team-player attitude.
Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
Sensitivity to diverse and multicultural work environment.
Education, Experience & Credentials
BA Degree or an equivalent combination of education and relative experience.
2+ years of experience in HR administrative roles.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift or push up to 10 pounds at a time.
Travel within residential sites as needed.
