Join to apply for the MCC Clinical RN - Intermediate role at UT Health San Antonio. The MCC Clinical Registered Nurse – Intermediate provides direct nursing care to patients at the Mays Cancer Center. The nurse demonstrates independence when preparing equipment and aiding physicians during patient treatment and examination. The nurse works under the limited supervision of department leadership. Responsibilities
Assist assigned medical provider and mid-level in the clinical setting, including physical examination of patients, performing complex medical testing and providing interpretations of results, consulting with physicians, implementing treatment plans, and administering medications and injections as needed. Collaborate with the assigned medical assistant to ensure all chart preparation is complete and ready for clinic. Coordinate with the scheduler to ensure referrals, follow-up appointments, diagnostic tests, etc., are scheduled per medical provider/mid-level orders. Call in prescriptions and refills for patients. Obtain prior authorization as needed on medications, diagnostic tests, and other medical procedures. Triages patient calls and works closely with call center team members. Assist and arrange hospital admissions as needed. Follow up on diagnostic tests and labs and ensure results are reported to the medical provider. Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Demonstrates the ability to function within the required nursing process as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrates the ability to support the mission, vision and patient promise throughout all interactions. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal. Demonstrates analytical thinking to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. Participates as an integral part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing the highest quality of care to the patient. Required certifications must remain current and valid. RN Registered Nurse State Licensure - Required BLS Basic Life Support - Required Required Skills
