Accounting Supervisor – Construction

Construction / Project-Based Accounting Responsibilities
Construction Accounting & Project Costing
Lead job cost accounting processes including budgeting, forecasting, cost coding, and expenditure tracking. Oversee Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules to ensure accurate and timely reporting of project profitability. Apply GAAP-compliant percentage-of-completion (POC) revenue recognition methods. Partner with project managers to analyze cost variances and identify opportunities to improve margins. Review contract terms, change orders, and billing schedules to ensure proper accounting treatment.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes for construction projects. Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and comprehensive job costing reports. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial statements and variance analyses. Support external audits, tax filings, and lender reporting requirements.
Leadership & Process Optimization
Supervise and mentor a team of staff accountants and billing specialists. Develop and enforce accounting policies and internal controls tailored to the construction industry. Drive process improvements in job cost tracking, billing, and reporting. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to align financial reporting with business goals.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a construction-focused role. Deep expertise in WIP schedules, POC revenue recognition, and job costing. Strong understanding of GAAP and construction accounting best practices. Proven leadership, communication, and analytical skills. #ZRCFS
