Position Overview The firm is seeking a Financial Analyst with strong technical skills in SQL and Advanced Excel to support financial reporting, budgeting, and strategic analysis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, data-driven environment and is looking to grow within a respected organization.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and practice group heads.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to improve financial outcomes.

Conduct variance analysis comparing actuals to budget and forecast, identifying drivers and trends.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

Assist in the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts across departments and practice areas.

Partner with department heads to gather inputs and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Maintain and update budget models, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Data Management & SQL Reporting

Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large datasets from financial systems.

Build and maintain automated reports and dashboards to streamline financial tracking and performance monitoring.

Collaborate with IT and data teams to ensure data integrity and system enhancements.

Advanced Excel Modeling

Develop complex Excel models for scenario planning, profitability analysis, and cost-benefit evaluations.

Utilize advanced functions (Power Query, macros, array formulas) to automate and enhance reporting processes.

Create dynamic tools for internal stakeholders to support decision-making.

Strategic Support & Ad Hoc Projects

Support senior finance leadership with strategic initiatives, including pricing analysis, client profitability, and operational efficiency.

Conduct financial due diligence for internal projects and external partnerships.

Lead or contribute to special projects such as system implementations, process improvements, and financial audits.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in financial analysis within professional services (law firm experience highly preferred).

Proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating large datasets REQUIRED.

Expertise in Advanced Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, macros, and complex formulas.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a hybrid work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in a law firm or legal services environment.

Familiarity with financial systems such as Elite, Aderant, or similar platforms.

Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
