Overview
The Project Accountant provides support in all aspects of project accounting including month end close, cost and revenue accruals, cost review, profitability analysis, resource utilization, and effectively communicating projects progress to the business line finance analyst. Responsibilities
Ensure proper revenue and cost recognition on projects in accordance with company policies, including accruals. Perform month end close activities including but not limited to cost and revenue accruals, reclass journal entries, WIP review and reconciliation, multiplier review and analysis, and task to close review and reporting. Perform monthly account reconciliations. Maintain an understanding of current corporate allocations and be a resource for operations with any inquiries relating to them. Maintain overall knowledge of projects for assigned area. Perform a high-level project analysis to highlight the main factors impacting project performance for the current period, while communicating financial risks. Provide research and support on inquiries from operations. Serve as liaison between corporate accounts payable/accounts receivable and operations as needed. Assist with inquiries from external auditors while maintaining adequate supporting documentation for the business units. Collaborate with team members to identify reporting issues/challenges from operation side. Identify potential areas of improvement as it relates to project accounting, while presenting ideas to direct management for further exploration. Support special projects as assigned by management. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: Required A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. 3-5 years experience in accounting, preferably in engineering services and/or construction projects. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: N/A On-the-job Training: N/A Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations; ability to write reports and correspondence; ability to present information effectively. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions; ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to interpret spreadsheets. Reasoning Ability: Ability to interpret instructions, define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Other Skills and Abilities: Self-starter, Oracle experience a plus, proficiency with accounting and reporting techniques, strong analytical skills, Excel/Project/Word/PowerPoint proficiency, excellent communication, willingness to travel.
