New Business Commercial Underwriter
to join our team. As a growing MGA representing many well-known carriers — including our status as a
Lloyd’s of London Coverholder
— we are looking for an underwriter who thrives in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. The new business underwriter will evaluate and quote new submissions, work closely with agents to gather information, and partner with carrier underwriters to provide quick, competitive, and accurate quotes. Responsibilities
Reviews new business submissions for completeness and underwriting eligibility Evaluates, rates, and quotes new commercial property and casualty business with in-house markets and brokerage partners Communicates directly with agents to clarify risk details and strengthen underwriting relationships Works with carrier underwriters to negotiate terms and pricing as needed Prepares and presents quotes, binders, and proposals to producers Documents underwriting decisions and reasoning according to agency and carrier standards Binds and issues new policies within delegated authority Coordinates with service teams to ensure smooth transition from new business to renewal cycle Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and
five (5) or more years of experience
in the insurance industry Strong working knowledge of commercial lines (property, liability, package, inland marine, etc.) and applicable regulatory guidelines Active
Property & Casualty insurance license Experience underwriting
surplus lines
or
E&S commercial risks Ability to manage deadlines and quote turnaround expectations Detail-oriented and proactive communicator who thrives in a small-team environment Comfortable working with multiple systems and underwriting platforms Positive, resourceful attitude — willing to learn, adapt, and contribute to team success Seniority level
