Responsibilities
Coordinate and verify the accuracy of all credentialing/privileging functions for assigned departments, including support of the department’s credentials committee, agenda preparation, minute-taking, and management of initial appointments and re-appointment applications.
Send, review, and verify preapplication and credentialing applications; upload and maintain provider information in the credentialing database system.
Obtain and evaluate information from approved primary sources; recognize, investigate, and validate discrepancies and adverse information during the credentialing process.
Complete background screening and state mandatory requirements for non-employed providers as required; track application status and maintain ongoing communication with providers throughout the credentialing and recredentialing process; perform final file review to ensure a complete file prior to department review.
Compile, evaluate, and present practitioner applications (appointment and reappointment) for review by section leaders and Department Chairs.
Respond to external queries regarding provider status (hospital affiliation).
Collaborate with Department Chairs and/or Section Chief to update privileging forms for consistency and standardization; manage changes in the privilege process for providers within assigned departments.
Coordinate and support select medical staff committees (ad hoc and special) with agenda development and minute taking, in collaboration with Manager and Corporate Director.
Follow established departmental workflows, including waiver requests, license/board certification expirations, and compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and regulatory requirements.
Monitor expirable items (e.g., licensure, CSR, DEA, board certification, life support, malpractice expirations); notify providers of upcoming renewals and ensure timely verification.
Respond timely to internal and external data requests; follow departmental processes as outlined in credentials governance documents; maintain familiarity with OPPE and FPPE processes to align with The Joint Commission and CMS Conditions of Participation.
Education and experience requirements
Associate’s degree or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
A minimum of two years’ work-related experience is preferred. Prior experience in hospital credentialing/privileging is preferred. Credentialing experience should include activity coordination and exposure to regulatory bodies such as The Joint Commission and CMS.
Preferred to obtain certification as a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) within 5 years of eligibility or within 1 year after reaching exam eligibility if new to ChristianaCare. This is preferred for candidates with >15 years of credentialing experience.
Hourly Pay Range: $23.85 - $35.78
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Final salary will depend on factors including skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to job requirements.
