Jobs via Dice . Job Summary: We're seeking a skilled and motivated
Data Center Technician
with experience in
network cabling, low-voltage systems, and hardware deployment . This role is ideal for candidates experienced in
fiber and copper installations , structured cabling, and hands-on support of network infrastructure. You'll play a key role in maintaining the backbone of our data center operations—ensuring connectivity, uptime, and physical layer integrity across all systems.
Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cabling for network infrastructure
Deploy and maintain network switches, routers, firewalls, and related hardware
Perform rack and stack duties including mounting equipment, labeling, and cable management
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on cabling and network gear
Assist with network troubleshooting and physical layer diagnostics
Maintain documentation of cabling layouts, port assignments, and hardware configurations
Ensure compliance with low-voltage standards and data center security protocols
Collaborate with IT and network engineering teams to support infrastructure upgrades and expansions
Qualifications
Associate's degree in IT, Networking, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Experience with low-voltage cabling, including fiber and copper installations
Familiarity with structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), patch panels, and punch-down blocks
Basic understanding of IP networking, VLANs, and physical network design
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical diagrams and layouts
Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with physical demands
Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, BICSI, or Fiber Optic Technician are a plus
Work Environment
Data center setting with occasional travel to remote sites
Physical tasks include lifting, installing, and terminating hardware and cabling
May require work outside standard business hours for maintenance and deployments
Shift Schedule:
A Side: Sunday-Tuesday and every other Wednesday
B Side: Thursday-Saturday and every other Wednesday
Day Shift: 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Overtime: Paid for hours worked beyond 40 hours per week
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
