Illinois Institute for Rehabilitation & Employment Research (IIRER) seeks a Visiting Research Support Specialist. The role focuses on developing, conducting, disseminating, and supporting all phases of research and evaluation related to the career development, employment, and well-being of individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions. Research & Dissemination Responsibilities

Assist with research projects including collecting and analyzing data and disseminating findings through appropriate outlets to reach key stakeholders. Ensure research methods are consistent, accurate, and reliable and appropriate to achieve project goals. Assist with the collection, organization, and basic analysis of data related to research activities. Provide regular reports to the director and leadership team on research progress and findings. Ensure that research projects meet all ethical and legal guidelines. Collaborate with other entities on campus and at partnering institutions to conduct and support all phases of research and evaluation projects. Work with the IIRER director and leadership team to provide support across all phases of the research for grant funded projects. Stay up to date on current trends, best practices, and emerging research methods related to career development, employment, and well-being of individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions. Contribute to the development of data visualizations, infographics, and research reports to support grant funded projects. Track performance metrics and assist in preparing data summaries for grant reporting and evaluation. Maintain accurate documentation and records of project activities, supporting ongoing monitoring and evaluation. Lead the planning and implementation of knowledge translation strategies applying appropriate platforms (digital, newsletters, technical reports & manuscripts). Manage and expand the knowledge translation activities to meet project goals. Assist in the creation and editing of research presentations, technical reports, and manuscripts to meet project goals.

Training & Technical Assistance

Use research findings to develop career development-related technical assistance to State VR and related agencies to enhance their capacity to implement and sustain employment strategies to enable individuals with disabilities to achieve quality employment, career advancement, and increased well-being. Develop accessible and engaging content that explains research findings for knowledge translation and training and technical assistance. Manage, coordinate, and expand knowledge translation across IIRER projects. Disseminate career development-related technical assistance resources including fact sheets, article summaries, case study vignettes, literature reviews, presentations at state and national professional meetings, and manuscripts for submission to professional journals.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field. One (1) year of professional work experience in data analysis, communications, business administration, research, marketing, or public administration. Demonstrated experience with organizing, interpreting and reporting performance analytics data. Demonstrated experience with design programs such as Adobe CC, Canva, etc… Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience developing accessible data visualizations. Demonstrated experience in web development and proficiency in a Content Management System (e.g. Wordpress, Drupal, Sitefinity). Experience with university operations and processes. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate results. Interest and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and accessibility relating to content. Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting data. Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 1/2/2026. The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 with final salary determined by a combination of available market data, internal equity, candidate experience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budget constraints.
