Job Description We are looking for a Counter Sales Rep to join our Platt team in East Portland, OR. The Counter Sales Representative provides immediate service and product knowledge to customers, delivers excellent customer service, and supports the branch team with receiving, shipping, and stocking.
What You'll Do
Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers promptly and courteously with their purchases and processing of their orders or returns.
Assist in driving electrical distribution sales for the counter business and develop new and existing customer relationships.
Assist with daily restocking, showroom maintenance, and keeping showroom and counter clean and organized.
Assist with warehouse functions as needed, including receiving, shipping, stocking, and deliveries.
Stay informed and educated on product knowledge.
Assist inside sales as needed.
Inform the manager of any potential hazards or safety concerns pertaining to safety or customer satisfaction.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
2+ years of customer service, sales, or electrical distribution experience preferred.
Previous branch experience preferred.
High School or GED required.
Electrical product knowledge and experience, including lighting, switchgear, controls, and electrical commodities preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in electrical distribution or similar electrical sales environments preferred.
Familiarity with automated order entry systems and PCs running Windows-based software preferred.
Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate on all levels within internal and external groups.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good team player with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work efficiently and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to type on a computer keyboard; proactive attitude; desire to improve electrical product knowledge.
Additional Information
Physical Demands: Sit, walk, use hands, stoop/kneel/crouch, climb/balance, and talk/hear/sense hazards at varying frequencies.
Weight and Force Demands: Up to 10, 25, or 50 pounds with specified frequency.
Working Environment: Exposure to high noise levels, heat/cold, electrical hazards, potentially dangerous equipment; occasional travel to offsite locations.
