Overview The Learning and Development Specialist designs, develops, and delivers high-impact learning programs that support skill development, leadership, and career acceleration across both corporate and field populations. The role involves developing internship and rotational programs with primary responsibility for the Leading in the Field program (planned for 2026). It requires combining creative instructional design with expert facilitation, and the ability to deliver leadership development sessions for corporate employees with relevance to field staff.

Responsibilities

Instructional Design & Content Development: lead the design and development of end-to-end blended learning programs (workshops, learning paths, on-demand resources); apply adult learning principles and models (e.g., ADDIE, agile); develop decks, facilitation scripts, assessments, activities, simulations, and other engagement-enhancing elements; build learning programs on the leadership development SharePoint site and coordinate with HRIS, IT, and people teams to ensure portal effectiveness; ensure content is accessible and inclusive.

Program Delivery & Facilitation: facilitate in-person and virtual training for corporate and craft populations; deliver field-site training; build credibility with frontline employees; lead Train-the-Trainer programs; facilitate technical, leadership, and professional development programs; adapt facilitation to different audiences; support change management and training communications; provide ongoing program management; coordinate, facilitate, and track compliance training.

Skill Gaps & Needs Analysis: collaborate with leadership to conduct needs assessments; align learning solutions with organizational goals and performance improvement; recommend interventions based on data, research, and trends; assess skills to adapt trainings as needed.

Program Evaluation & Continuous Improvement: evaluate training effectiveness using metrics and feedback; iterate materials based on data and evolving needs; track training completion and compliance metrics for reporting and audits.

Technology & Innovation: leverage LXP/LMS, eLearning tools, and platforms (Teams, SharePoint); explore AI-powered learning and emerging technologies; stay current on industry trends and share insights with the team.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with Sr. Manager of Learning & Development to integrate with talent development and career pathing; partner with HR Business Partners to monitor training completion and accountability; collaborate with leaders to create learning paths for project management; coordinate with Talent Team for training logistics; collaborate with operations leadership to identify skill gaps.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience: 5–7+ years in instructional design, learning facilitation, and/or talent development; experience designing and delivering field-based training (construction, solar, or craft-heavy industries preferred); ability to connect with craft/field employees; proven experience with large-scale learning initiatives in a corporate environment; experience with LMS management and digital learning tools.

Skills: strong knowledge of instructional design models and adult learning theories; storytelling and deck-building; facilitation and presentation; project management; excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with learning technology tools (Articulate, Captivate, Rise, Storyline) and video editing; ability to analyze data to improve outcomes.

Work Details

Location: United States; Remote work arrangement; travel up to 25% for onsite training.

Supervisor: Sr. Learning & Development Manager (or designation by CEO).

Hours: Monday–Friday, typical business hours local time.
