Ensures the timely and accurate preparation of all federal and state payroll reports and tax payments in accordance with all federal, state and local payroll taxing authorities. Reconciles multi-state payroll tax reporting after each pay run to ensure accurate filings by tax service provider. Maintains and validates weekly tax file and reconciles with vendor reports. Reconciles cash activity to Payroll and ADP Tax Services reports. Prepares and files local and off-period tax returns, and quarterly and annual tax filings. Runs HR/Payroll system reports and queries. Performs pay period audit of selected criterion to ensure accurateness and thoroughness of data. Enters and updates W-4 forms. Oversees payroll tax withholding and unemployment registration process. Responsible for company, state, and local tax configuration set up within HR/Payroll system. Responds to W-2 questions and processes W-2Cs as required. Resolves outstanding tax assertions. Corresponds with federal, state and local payroll tax authorities as necessary. Serves as liaison between company and third party vendors on payroll tax and unemployment issues. Reviews unemployment tax rate changes for cost saving potential and maintains rate changes in payroll system. Keeps abreast of tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Ensures excellent customer service standards are followed and provided to internal and external customers. Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers. Maintains and expands on payroll processing knowledge and contributes to staff meetings. Works with Internal Audit to ensure all Payroll controls are being properly followed and met. Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work related experience; and three to five years related experience with high volume, multi-state payroll tax filings and compliance issues. Must possess general accounting skills and a solid understanding of payroll concepts and procedures. PeopleSoft experience required. Experience working with ADP tax services preferred, but not required. CPP preferred. Certifications, Licenses, And Other Special Requirements

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. On-line tax research using BNA and other authoritative sites. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Physical Demands and Working Conditions
