Overview
We are a growing manufacturer of precision gears, splines, housings and gear boxes in the Aerospace Industry. Located in Sterling Heights, Michigan, we are looking for a Cost Accountant/Controller. This position will report directly to the Vice President and will interface with support staff, accounting, manufacturing, and management personnel to efficiently perform all accounting and financial functions of the company and provide accurate and timely reporting and analysis of financial and operational information. Responsibilities
Maintain standard cost system, including analysis of bills of material and routers for new products, cost rolls for all products, as well as periodic updates to material costs
Manage accounting personnel
Analysis of material price, usage and scrap
Cost estimates and margin analysis
Review costs for inaccuracies
Review labor batching for inaccuracies
Complete month-end and year-end closing, forecasting and annual budgeting process
Audits physical inventories and cycle counts
Monthly inventory reporting (raw materials, turns, cycle times, and product line totals)
Make adjusting entries for inventory/WIP transactions
Reconcile ending balances to general ledger
Prepare ROI and related analysis for capital projects; monitor progress
Prepare and manage bank, customer and government audits
Prepare and submit monthly/quarterly bank reports
Other accounting/financial projects
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, Masters & CPA preferred
5+ years of relevant experience, manufacturing environment preferred
Experience with Global Shop Systems preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required
Strong working knowledge of accounting and cost accounting principles and thorough understanding of GAAP
Ability to prioritize and multitask
Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
Ability to interact with employees of all skill levels
Team player with excellent listening and communication skills
Strong attendance record
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently
Must be able to pass a background check
