The opportunity EY Private Tax is a growing practice within the organization, with a dedicated focus toward serving privately held companies. These clients range from family-owned businesses to private equity–owned companies. The common thread is high-growth private companies, from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar globals. You will engage in technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects and have opportunities to progress to senior manager with strong training and support from knowledgeable colleagues. Your Key Responsibilities Support our senior managers through partners in providing tax services. Balance time between compliance and planning, and interact directly with clients. Focus on corporate returns and provision work, with opportunities to work on flow-through entities (e.g., partnerships). Build a trusted advisor relationship across multiple teams and develop a diverse network of colleagues. Preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross-border tax compliance (foreign partnerships, foreign corporations, foreign disregarded entities, and foreign affiliate reporting). Providing tax research, drafting tax memoranda, and assisting in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services. Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners. Liaising with other service lines and subject matter professionals. Building long-term relationships with clients and tailoring services to their needs. Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and clients. Maintaining and sharing technical knowledge to uphold professional reputation. Managing, coaching, and developing a team of tax professionals, reviewing work, and ensuring team members have the tools and opportunities to excel. Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes. Skills And Attributes For Success To qualify for the role you must have A bachelor’s degree in a related field, supported by tax, business, or financial planning experience. A CPA certification or membership in The Bar Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or professional tax organization. A commitment to continuing your learning. Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA or LexisNexis. Willingness to travel as needed and ability to work in a balanced hybrid environment. Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $127,700 to $221,700. Salaries are determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography. The Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and various paid time off options. Hybrid work model with most client-facing work in-person 40-60% of the time over a project or engagement.
