Overview
Staff Engineer - Finance Data Specialist (Hybrid) at GEICO. Finance Data Specialist to support the build out of a Finance Data Warehouse/Lake by partnering with Finance and Technology teams to redesign how Finance data is managed to meet business goals. Responsibilities
Leverage strong functional and technical Finance Systems expertise to drive solutions that meet current and future department and GEICO needs. Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle. Support design sessions to ensure systems are well designed, efficient, and meet business expectations. Collaborate with FP&A, Controllers, Financial Reporting, Finance QA & Systems, Data Engineering, and Finance Technology leaders to align on goals. Develop a vision and technology roadmap to build out a Finance Data Lake/Warehouse. Understand finance data lake/mart concepts and data processing/ transformation using ETL/ELT tools (e.g., Informatica, DBT). Design, develop, implement, and maintain data ingestion and transformation solutions. Work with cloud data solutions (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi, Snowflake, Redshift or equivalent). Support development of a roadmap and implementation of Revenue and Expense analytics. Influence stakeholders and align discussions across business and technology teams. Support governance and control frameworks for SOX and audits. Translate business and functional specifications into technical specifications. Share best practices and drive process improvements across teams. Qualifications
15+ years of Finance Systems experience with industry-leading ERP solutions (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP, or PeopleSoft). 3+ years of FP&A applications experience (preferred). 3+ years working with Finance Data Lake/Warehouse/Mart and Financial Reporting tools. Strong understanding of Dimensional Data Modeling. Experience with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, DBT, etc.) and SQL proficiency. Experience with Financials via major vendors (PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, SAP). Finance domain expertise to translate processes into system solutions. Experience with FP&A budgeting, planning, and forecasting processes. Experience implementing or supporting Revenue/Expense analytics via Power BI, Tableau, etc. Understanding of accounting processes and reporting expectations; ability to partner with Finance teams. Strong communication skills to work with users across Technology and Finance. Project management knowledge and problem-solving abilities; ability to work in fast-paced environments. Experience with SDLC and working both independently and in team settings. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent education/experience). Annual Salary
