Overview

Research Associate (Postdoctoral) – Cell Biology. The Department of Cell Biology at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate (Postdoctoral) scholar to join the lab of Dr. Laura Newman. The lab researches the biology of how mitochondria regulate innate immune signaling. Responsibilities

Independently drive a research project within the scope of the ongoing research in the Newman lab. Analyze and summarize experimental results for internal and external presentations, progress reports, and publications. Supervise junior staff, undergraduate and graduate students. Minimum Requirements

Education: Doctoral degree Preferred Qualifications

Education: A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or related field is required by the start date of the appointment. Experience: Substantial expertise in an area related to the lab’s research, such as molecular and cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, virology, or other related fields. Physical Demands

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. Occasional travel to attend meetings is required. Salary

Anticipated salary: $62,000 Exemption Status
