Accountant 2 – General Accounting, ADHS Controller's Office. This posting is for current internal ADHS applicants only. Location: 150 N 18th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85007 Salary: $60,500 | Grade: 20 Department: Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) – promotes and protects the health of Arizona’s children and adults. Perform complex and difficult accounting assignments in the General Accounting segment of the Controller's Office. Apply GAAP and government-specific accounting requirements to analyze financial statements for completeness and accuracy. Maintain fiscal management by analyzing, interpreting, and evaluating accounting and reporting systems, procedures, policies, and methods. Review, gather, compile, and process data entry for inter- and intra-agency revenue and expense transfers; coordinate transfers with appropriate program finance managers and other agencies. Research negative expenditures; assist with trainings; provide backup to data entry for the Direct/Indirect Cost Desk. Work on special projects and cross-train; perform other duties as assigned related to the position. Qualifications and KSAs
Knowledge Of:
Accounting principles and practices; GAAP and GASB; government accounting concepts; automated accounting systems; internal control structures; federal grant regulations; and related policies/procedures; familiarity with PM/CQI/Lean methodologies. Skills:
Analysis and communication of financial data; effective time management; written and oral communication; intermediate/advanced Excel (macros, pivot tables); maintaining accounting records across systems; ability to work independently and in teams. Abilities:
Learn internal control structures and fiscal management; work under general supervision; collaborate with a diverse, multicultural workforce; contribute to an inclusive work environment free from discrimination. Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting required; one year of experience as Accountant 1 or equivalent. Pre-Employment and Requirements
