Team Management
— Lead, mentor, and manage appraisal department staff including appraisers and the appraisal coordinator; provide regular feedback and performance development. Appraisal Assignment Oversight
— Assign appraisal orders, manage pipeline prioritization, and oversee daily workflow in the Connexions platform. Vendor Management
— Maintain and evaluate the approved appraiser panel and AMCs; ensure licensing, insurance, and performance standards are met. Process Oversight
— Design and implement policies for ordering, reviewing, transferring, and escalating appraisal reports in accordance with HUD, USDA, FNMA, Freddie Mac, and internal guidelines. Cross-Department Collaboration
— Partner with underwriting and processing teams to resolve appraisal issues efficiently and accurately. Technology & Systems
— Lead the transition to and optimization of the Connexions appraisal system; ensure staff and vendors are properly trained. Reporting & Metrics
— Monitor turnaround times, cost efficiency, appraisal quality, and vendor performance; report KPIs to leadership. Compliance
— Ensure all appraisal activities comply with USPAP, federal and state regulations, FHA/USDA/VA guidelines, and Novus policies. Dispute Resolution
— Handle value disputes, reconsideration of value (ROV) requests, and investor-related appraisal deficiencies. Training & Development
— Create and maintain appraisal training materials for internal teams and vendors. Market Analysis
— Stay current on market conditions, rural valuation trends (e.g., in regions like Marshfield, WI), and industry changes. Process Improvement
— Lead ongoing appraisal department enhancements through automation, policy updates, and system optimization. Minimum Qualifications
Education
— Real estate or business-related field preferred. Experience
— 5+ years of real estate appraisal experience in residential mortgage lending; 3–5 years of team leadership or departmental management experience. Certifications
— State Certified or Licensed Residential Appraiser strongly preferred. Systems Knowledge
— Experience with Connexions or similar appraisal management platforms. Technology Skills
— Proficiency in Encompass, appraisal review tools, and workflow systems. Regulatory Knowledge
— Deep understanding of USPAP, FHA, USDA, GSE appraisal standards, and Dodd-Frank Appraisal Independence Requirements. Compensation & Location
— Pay range is $72,000 - 80,000. This is an onsite position working at the corporate headquarters in Brookfield, WI.
