Lead Brand Designer
— Collaborate with Innovative 3Mers Around the World. This position offers opportunities to transition from private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career, integrating brand design development into business strategies and delivering high-quality experiences at the shelf. Responsibilities
Lead brand design programs from both strategic and execution perspectives, aligning designers, business stakeholders and agency partners from initial kick-off to final implementation. Lead the implementation of the brand strategy to create packaging, products and other touch-points that provide engaging customer experiences at the shelf and online, including internal artwork development or collaboration with agency partners. Develop strong relationships with cross-functional business and communications teams, providing creative direction and asset development (photos, etc.) that fit brand standards and advance the brand strategy. Manage the design/artwork budget for the assigned brand(s) or business, including forecasting and monthly tracking of external spend. Translate research and insights into design strategies and recommendations to drive programs forward to successful commercialization. Ensure adherence to brand design processes, guidelines and methodologies, including training new team members on brand guidelines. Handle a variety of projects, collaborating with multiple business teams to align design goals with business goals and strategy across complex product portfolios. Act as champion for design and our customers, driving human-centered solutions while considering business value and feasibility. Maintain knowledge of current design trends and methods; develop and share tools and frameworks with global colleagues. Push boundaries through thought leadership, exploring future trends in design, technology, socio-economic and demographic opportunities relevant to the Industrial Business Group. May be assigned leadership responsibilities for tasks and/or people; coach and mentor other design team members to elevate the quality of design. Your Skills And Expertise
To set you up for success in this role, the following qualifications are required (minimum): Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) combined years of packaging, CPG, brand graphic design, or packaging design experience in a private, public, government or military environment. OR High school diploma/GED and 10 years packaging or graphic design experience in a private, public, government or military environment. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed include: MS in design, design strategy, graphic design or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Seven (7) years of experience identifying and tackling business challenges with design-driven solutions. Proven record of using research to answer business strategy questions and needs. Strong storytelling and presentation skills and a passion for creative expression. Work Location
This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN. Travel
May include up to 10% domestic/international travel. Relocation
