The Communication Engineering team for the Signaling & Systems business delivers railway communication systems, including network and system designs, procurement, cabinet assemblies, testing, commissioning, integration and in-service support. The team supports customers through all phases of implementation to ensure functionality and compliance. What do we want to know about you?

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or relevant technical degree Minimum of 4 years of Network experience Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards Capable of designing Ethernet, TCP/IP, SONET, MPLS based large area networks in a rail environment Experience architecting, specifying, designing, testing, commissioning network systems Capable of configuring various switches, routers, etc. Must be able to troubleshoot lab-based networks and field networks Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery Monitor and test network performance and provide statistics and reports Must be able to rack and test equipment in a lab Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs Manage and/or provide guidance to junior team members Fluency in English Excellent communication, technical and presentation skills Self-starter; proactive and hands-on; able to do the work or lead as needed Experience with field and design work in rail environments is a plus What will your typical day look like?

Develop detailed communication network architectures for rail signaling, control systems, and passenger information systems Select technologies (fiber, wireless, IP/MPLS) to meet performance, reliability and safety requirements Collaborate with internal and external engineering teams to understand network requirements and status Draft technical specifications, design drawings, and interface control documents Review contracts, proposals and design documents for industry standard compliance (IEEE, AREMA, FRA) Maintain up-to-date documentation for all network components and configurations Support 1-4 projects in a day depending on project needs Coordinate lab and field testing of communication systems including radios, interlocks, and centralized traffic control Perform performance, integration and interoperability testing between subsystems (SCADA, PTC, CCTV, PA) Oversee or manage installation efforts for subsystems Troubleshoot issues during installation, testing, integration and commissioning Attend coordination meetings with project managers, contractors, and transit agencies; provide engineering status for project schedules Design network monitoring strategies using SNMP, NMS platforms and diagnostic tools Analyze performance metrics and plan preventive maintenance Support lifecycle planning for hardware and software upgrades Develop installation and training documentation for communication system devices and cabinets Develop technical design documents for subsystems (SCADA, CCTV, PA, VMS, Radio, etc.) Conduct risk assessments and contribute to safety certification processes What about the physical demands of the job?

Experience with rail network systems for train control Field experience plus office design experience Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and influence across technical and non-technical audiences Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage diversity and drive for results CCNA or other network certifications Compensation and benefits

The salary range for this role is between $67,400.00-$96,000.00. The actual offer may be influenced by factors such as training, experience, education, and location. Benefits details are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefits may include an annual bonus if eligible. Who are we?
