Oregon Department of Transportation . This position is with the Driver and Motor Vehicles Division (DMV), Field Services Group / Central Region, in Redmond. The role supports the public with driver licenses, vehicle registrations, permits and license plates, administers knowledge, skill and vision tests, ensures correct fees are collected, provides information about regulations and policies, and administers behind-the-wheel tests. Training is provided to help you make decisions using vehicle laws, agency policies and regulations. Responsibilities

Help the public register vehicles and apply for permits. Provide exceptional customer service while following privacy laws. Communicate clearly with customers from diverse backgrounds to answer complex questions clearly. Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards. Administer, correct and explain driver license tests. Conduct and interpret results of driver vision tests. Perform physical examinations of vehicles and verify vehicle identification numbers. Prepare daily bank deposits and account for sensitive inventory. Occasionally perform relief work in other DMV offices within the region. May require standing for extended periods, working in inclement weather, irregular schedules and lifting up to 25 pounds. Two years of public contact/customer service experience involving dealing with the public in person or by phone, providing information about services/programs or explaining/applying rules, regulations and procedures. AND Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data. AND Three months experience collecting money and making change. Completion of an associate’s degree will substitute for one year of the public contact experience. Special qualifications

Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid US driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on final candidates. Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered. What We’d Like To See

The salary range listed is the non-PERS monthly salary range. If you are already a participating PERS member or once you become PERS eligible, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
