Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning – Tenure Track
Position: Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning (9‑month, tenure‑track) in the Department of Counseling, Leadership, and Research Methods, College of Education and Health Professions, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
Job Summary The Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning is responsible for teaching graduate courses, conducting research that leads to refereed publications and professional presentations, pursuing external funding, chairing and serving on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees, and engaging in service activities across the program, department, college, university, and professional organizations. Sustained on‑campus presence and active engagement in departmental life are essential for advancing the college’s mission.
Responsibilities
Teach graduate courses in adult and lifelong learning.
Conduct research resulting in refereed publications and professional presentations.
Pursue external funding.
Chair or serve on doctoral advisory and dissertation committees.
Engage in service activities within the program, department, college, university, and professional/scholarly organizations.
Maintain consistent on‑campus presence and active engagement in departmental activities.
Attend departmental, college, and university committee meetings.
Maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate from a nationally recognized and accredited institution in adult and lifelong learning or a closely related field, conferred by the start of employment.
Established or emerging research agenda focused on adult and lifelong learning outside the for‑profit workplace, community college leadership, adult basic education and literacy, adult learning policy, adult development, or a related area.
Evidence of scholarly productivity (publications, presentations, grants).
Ability to teach graduate courses related to adult and lifelong learning, community colleges, or adult basic education and literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience in adult education or community colleges.
Graduate teaching experience.
Online teaching and/or learning experience.
Experience submitting and securing external funding.
Expertise in quantitative research methods.
