Position: MRI Technologist Department: MRI Schedule: Part Time Essential Responsibilities / Duties

Operates a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner to perform technologist duties as required and necessary for proper departmental workflow. Prepares patient for exams as required and ensures patient comfort and modesty at all times. Accommodates patient needs and staffing needs through flexibility in scheduling and timeliness of studies. Performs appropriate studies as determined through policy and procedure. Follows requisition in terms of providing proper study for patients. Ensures that exams requested match patient condition and/or history and calls or asks proper persons for more information as necessary to perform the proper study. Sets up equipment as necessary and uses proper imaging techniques. Adjusts imaging factors when necessary to improve study or quality factors. Works through radiologist’s requirements to provide appropriate images and provides additional views and variations of techniques as requested. Completes procedures in timely fashion while providing quality images for Radiology and outside departments. Completes work by the end of the shift or communicates with coworkers about work needing completion. Participates in intravenous (IV) training, and passes all competencies required to start and administer IV contrast material under the general observation of a qualified physician, as per department policy and procedure. Maintains equipment through interaction with management and department service vendors to maximize equipment uptime, patient care, and minimize dollar impact to the hospital. Performs patient-focused customer service and ensures the following standards are met appropriately. Communicates patient complaints professionally to the appropriate supervisor. Keeps discussions around patients to a minimum and ensures that patients are not subjected to inappropriate behavior. Handles telephone calls and requests for services both professionally and appropriately. Monitors patient conditions and, if assistance is required, facilitates the best course of care including nurse involvement, further monitoring, and/or other patient-focused solutions. Ensures that all required documentation is properly completed for billing purposes to include electronic orders and paperwork related to all procedures performed. Understands and adheres to managed care guidelines. Works hours as regularly scheduled or according to the operational needs of the radiology department. Follows all departmental policies and procedures as required and utilizes the hospital’s behavioral standards to support the department and hospital mission. Treats patients and fellow staff with dignity and respect and reports any problems to the supervisor. Follows established hospital infection control and safety procedures. Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must be a graduate of an approved school that fulfills the ARRT requirements for primary or secondary pathway education in MRI. Must be ARRT registered in Radiologic Technology. MRI Specialty required or obtained within one year of employment. BLS required. Experience

Experience in MRI preferred. MRI-specific classroom experience a plus. Additional Information
