Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has an exciting opportunity for an Attorney to join our team and provide legal advice to DHHS Social Services programs. HIRING RATE OF POSITION: Negotiable pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved. Location
Location: Lincoln, NE Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include interpreting, analyzing court decisions, administrative rules, state and federal law, legal forms, proposed legislation, legal contracts, and other legal documents, and provide relevant and timely legal advice to the Agency. This position will require the drafting of various correspondence, motions, pleadings, orders, memoranda, contracts, and other legal documents for administrative hearings, and other program needs, including assisting with administrative hearings. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies. Legal Requirements: In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of l943, incumbents in this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar. Preferred Qualifications: Prior work experience in the field of juvenile law. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Excellent legal research and communication skills. Ability to interpret and communicate the legal effect of labor contracts or other transactional documents; analyze the application of relevant law to specific facts; recognize the impact of developing legislation and case law on the agency and its programs; and interpret complex federal and state constitutional, statutory and regulatory law.
