As a Collections Associate, you will contact borrowers with early‑stage overdue payments to negotiate settlements and enable the recovery of outstanding balances while preserving positive customer relationships and complying with all applicable laws.

What You’ll Do

Initiate communication with borrowers with overdue accounts via phone, email, or written correspondence.

Follow established procedures and applicable regulations for outreach and document all communication.

Negotiate repayment plans or settlements based on borrowers’ situations and company policy.

Provide information on available payment options and guide borrowers through the resolution process.

Address inquiries regarding account status, payment history, and related matters.

Maintain a professional, courteous tone, especially in challenging interactions.

Document all interactions, including conversation details, agreements, and promised payments.

Update accounts, payments, and communication records accurately.

Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and other debt‑collection regulations.

Provide regular updates and reports on collection activities, progress, and issues to supervisors.

What We Look For

1‑2 years of collections experience, preferably 0‑60 day delinquency exposure.

1‑2 years in a contact‑center environment.

Experience in mortgage, financial services, or banking preferred.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Familiarity with debt‑collection laws and regulations.

Ability to handle difficult conversations calmly under pressure.

Proficiency with computer systems, databases, G Suite, and related software.

Ability to commute to the Charlotte, NC office on a hybrid basis.

Fast, adaptable learning style and a positive, solution‑oriented mindset.

Strong organizational and prioritization capabilities.

Flexibility to adapt to evolving processes and structures.
