Salary/Compensation Statement:

The Part-time Faculty benefits package includes a generous contribution toward medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, and paid sick leave. Part-time faculty may be eligible for full contracted benefits after meeting certain criteria.

Required Qualifications
Required Education: Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Sign Language Education, Deaf Education, Sign Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, or related field.
Licensure or Certification Requirements: ACTFL Superior proficiency in ASL.

Must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time work is performed.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education: Possess certification from the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) - Certified Level
Experience teaching American Sign Language
Experience teaching at a community college
Experience in teaching and/or developing Hybrid, Hyflex, and/or Online courses

Position Purpose: Faculty are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality learning experience for all Lane Community College students. The faculty member is the teacher of record and facilitator of learning.
Essential Functions
Support student learning through activities that include: Exhibit compliance with College policies and procedures, accountability for leave time, timesheet completion, release time, textbook ordering and related functions; sustain currency in discipline and teaching; participate in faculty performance evaluation; maintain and post office hours; maintain physical campus presence for instruction and daily needs; uphold FERPA standards and confidentiality; maintain records and ensure safe, quality classrooms and labs; other duties as assigned.
Curriculum Delivery: Provide high-quality classroom instruction; create and revise course content; establish learning outcomes and assess outcomes; align with college values and foster a respectful learning environment; teach and develop syllabi and materials for traditional and online formats; confer with students on course materials.
Online Teaching and Student Support: Ensure Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) in online courses; monitor progress and coach struggling students; review and grade work with timely feedback; respond to inquiries; meet Section 508 guidelines; use effective online teaching strategies.
Equity and Inclusion: Demonstrate core value of social justice; act to support accessibility and inclusion; assist with ADA compliance; mentor and model cultural competency; demonstrate active concern for students, staff, and the public.
Supervision
Supervision Statement: Faculty report to a Department or Division Dean and perform duties in accordance with college mission, policies, and procedures.
Physical Demands/Working Environment
This position works indoors under usual office conditions. Requires ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform cognitive work, and transport materials up to 25 pounds. Work safely.

The ability to engage students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles; adapt instruction accordingly.
Knowledge of learning styles differences and ability to adapt instruction.
Ability to assess proficiency at all levels and develop assessment goals at student, course, and program levels.
