This Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is located at the Quad Cities VA Clinic in Davenport, IA. As a vital member of a Primary Care Patient Aligned Care Team, the LPN engages in a collaborative, patient-focused model that prioritizes wellness and disease prevention. In this role, you will assess and provide care within the scope of your licensure, work alongside team members to create comprehensive care plans for patients, and oversee the clinic's workflow to ensure efficient operations.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

* Perform a variety of nursing tasks, including rooming patients, monitoring patients' vital signs, assessing pain levels, executing clinical reminders, performing blood draws when required, applying braces or splints, irrigating ears, collecting culture specimens, changing dressings, and removing sutures or staples, as well as conducting EKGs. * Contribute to the evaluation, planning, implementation, and assessment of nursing care to facilitate the patient's swift return to or maintenance of optimal health, ensuring continuity of care tailored to each patient's unique needs. * Monitor and document the patient's physical state, emotional reactions, skin condition, fluctuations in vital signs, and personal habits, paying close attention to any indications of the patient's response to their illness and treatment, and ensuring all observations are recorded in the designated format. * Implement emergency protocols and provide assistance in resuscitation efforts during cardiac or pulmonary arrest situations. * Respond to concerns of patients and visitors in a manner that is effective and improves customer satisfaction. * Regularly inspect equipment, supplies, and containers to confirm that products are current and adequately stocked in accordance with unit procedures. * Prepare and administer prescribed medications and perform treatments according to established policies and procedures. * Engage in educational programs for patients and their families focused on health promotion, while also reinforcing the guidance provided by the Registered Nurse and Provider. * Oversee a patient group to manage diagnostic testing results, notify them of return appointments, and conduct follow-up calls as needed. * Utilize pharmacological knowledge to identify issues related to the administration of outpatient medications as directed by the Primary Care Provider. * Facilitate patient consultations on behalf of the primary care provider. * Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA
