Position Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the company’s accounting operations, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and providing accurate and timely financial reporting both for the individual companies and on a consolidated basis. This position will manage all accounting functions, including month-end close, payroll, payables, receivables, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and has experience in a consumer products or manufacturing company.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage the month-end and year-end close process, including reconciliation of all key accounts.
- Manage and complete transactional bookkeeping tasks, deposit reconciliations, and other administrative accounting tasks.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Manage all tax filings, including Federal and State income tax returns, sales/use tax, and other compliance-related reporting.
- Manage inventory accounting, including cycle counts and physical inventory reconciliations.
- Monitor cash flow and working capital needs.
- Support leadership with ad hoc reporting, financial modeling, and special projects.
- Ensure strong internal controls and compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- 5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a consumer products or manufacturing company.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
- Proficiency with Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
- Master’s Degree in Accounting or CPA certification is a plus.
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold analysis.
- Experience with ERP or integrated accounting systems.
