The minimum salary is
$61,954.88 annually. This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours. Pay Grade 522

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to manage and oversee recreation activities and personnel for multiple programs and facilities.
This position is a leadership role within the Community Engagement section of the Division of Lexington Parks & Recreation (LPR).
This position will oversee Lexington Parks & Recreation¿s five community centers to include the safety of operations and services at each center, ensure compliance with and oversite of costs and oversite of center budgets, develop and evaluate programs, as well as hire, train and supervise both full-time, part-time/seasonal staff.
In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring that all full-time staff are developing and evaluating programs for center participants in accordance with LPR¿s Community Engagement program model. This position will ensure that programs are developed based on community input, LPR policies, trends, the LPR Master Plan and in accordance with center budgets.
This position will also lead and supervise LPR¿s mobile recreation program throughout the year to include Summer Playground Days implementation, scheduling, staff hiring, training and program development. Lastly, the position will oversee the development and success of any camps that take place at the community centers.
This role also represents LPR in internal work groups and committees as well as on community and/or advisory boards as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job
Four (4) years of related experience, in which at least two (2) years must be in a supervisory/management capacity in an area related to the position
Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
There are no substitutes for the required supervisory/management experience
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Creates, develops, implements, manages, and reports on activities for recreational programs, services and activities
Manages and supervises recreational operations in five (5) community centers and two (2) mobile recreation initiatives to create, develop, implement and manage community and recreational programs, services and activities
Evaluates effectiveness and safety of operations and services, and implements recommended changes and improvements
Interviews, hires, trains, schedules and supervises staff
Supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of full-time and part-time seasonal subordinates
Prepares and administers program budgets, projects costs and ensures compliance with funding; procures equipment, materials and supplies as needed
Responds to public inquiries, concerns and complaints; maintains relationship with diverse members of the public
Represents LFUCG, the division and/or their program at various internal and external meetings, public functions and events
Performs related work as assigned
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
Valid Driver's License
Required within the first six (6) months of employment:
First Aid and CPR/AED Certification
Food Manager Certification from the Kentucky Health Department
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to work flexible hours and/or weekends, holidays, perform on-call duty, and split shifts when required.
All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. In addition, this position within the Divisions of Parks and Recreation requires a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) check before employment.
