Senior Bridge Engineer

to join our Bridge Practice! A flexible/hybrid work environment is applicable to this position, with the reporting office being any of GFT's Maryland, Washington DC and Virginia offices.

What you will be challenged to do The successful candidate shall have a minimum of 12 years of progressive design experience in structural engineering design for multiple types of bridges and structures to public clients. Experience should consist of the development and leading of the development of bridge design plan production work well in a team environment while independently applying advanced concepts and principles of engineering to resolve project issues. Serves as a technical specialist in analyzing bridge projects, establishing design criteria, and executing designs. Participates in large projects by managing the structural portions of the scope of work. Manages multi-disciplined tasks independently and provides interface with clients. Actively engaged at a local level in leadership of professional societies. The candidate will be responsible for day-to-day execution of assigned projects, mentoring less experienced staff, managing tasks, and technical interfacing with clients.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following

Leads the development of project design concepts and criteria and researches large or complex project elements

Functions as Design Team Leader on bridge design activities for complex structures

Responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating large or complex engineering assignments

Responsible for working within the project team with experience for bridge/structure design and to gain a working knowledge of other disciplines such as highway, transit, geotechnical, civil/site and environmental

Acts as technical specialist in the development of proposals

Develops scope, estimated schedule, and costs for proposed project services up to and including projects of moderate complexity

Provides management of bridge/structure personnel for a project

Acts in the capacity of Project Manager for small and medium complexity multi-disciplined bridge projects and interfaces with the client

Provides QA/QC reviews

May supervise a staff of engineers and other technical specialists

Responsible for working closely with clients for client satisfaction as well as business development purposes

Responsible to work on multiple concurrent assignments and time management

Responsible for executing the project scope of work, managing the technical development of the work, and maintaining the budget and schedule

Responsible for obtaining the permits necessary to complete the project and to provide interaction with the permitting agencies

Representing GFT at industry and professional events

Education | Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred

Professional Engineer License and ability to obtain multiple jurisdictions

12+ years of applicable experience

Expertise with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Expertise with CADD

Expertise with structural design and analysis software

Prior supervision of staff is preferred

Ability to work on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Compensation The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $160,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
