Data Specialist (Student Affairs) Johns Hopkins University – Admissions Office, School of Public Health. Hybrid location (in‑person 3‑4 days a week, remote for remaining days). Monday‑Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. FLSA status: Non‑Exempt. Salary range: $21.25 – $36.92 per hour (commensurate with experience). Requisition ID: 119195. Role/Level/Range: ATO 37.5/03/OF.

Job Summary The Data Specialist will enter, maintain, audit, and process sensitive data for the admissions area, reducing manual processes through technology. The position requires creating and reviewing reports, managing data anomalies, supporting data requests, and recommending improvements. The specialist will collaborate with admissions staff and other institutional units to strengthen data management practices supporting enrollment goals.

Responsibilities

Provide data support for team members, end‑users, and senior management.

Validate data and ensure accurate completion or routing of each reporting project based on established procedures.

Act as the initial contact for data corrections, escalations, and approved updates.

Guide clients and partners on standardized data processes.

Maintain complete and accurate records and audit data entry regularly for accuracy and compliance.

Prepare and present data metrics and ad‑hoc reports in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.

Participate in creation of new queries, reports, and data modules as needed.

Initiate technology service requests for new or revised data modules.

Provide support for all data processes, including availability, feasibility, and technical assistance.

Adhere to safety, confidentiality, and institutional data policies.

Offer general guidance and informal training to end‑users; develop internal training tools and process guides.

Conduct workshops to explain system requirements and procedures.

Respond to technical issues and recommend platform changes.

Assist with critical admissions processes, such as deferrals, make‑aware, and missing documentation management.

Support configuration and testing of WebAdMIT, Slate, Sling, JIRA, and other systems.

Work overtime during peak processing season as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Three years of administrative or academic‑related experience.

Substitutions for experience or education are permissible per the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with application databases.

Experience with Slate and WebAdMIT.
