Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) – Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities
Protect the principal against possible threats.
Perform federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, and roving patrols of interior and exterior federal property.
Monitor surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities.
Provide detailed daily activity and incident reports.
Use magnetometer and X‑ray machines effectively.
Operate two‑way radios and other communication devices clearly.
Apply emergency response and evaluation procedures, leveraging listening and service skills.
Perform CPR or first aid as needed.
Maintain credentials per contract requirements.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Project Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age.
United States citizenship or lawful permanent resident, verified with service record.
Valid Social Security Card.
Minimum 2 years of armed security experience or 1 year of full‑time law enforcement experience.
Minimum 2 years of honorable discharge from U.S. Armed Forces.
Fluency in English and ability to compose reports.
Qualified with a revolver or semi‑automatic weapon.
Strong knowledge of the security industry.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Customer‑service driven mindset.
Physical Demands
Ability to perform frequent walking, standing, sitting, stooping for up to 12 hours.
Ability to remain on post for up to 4 hours without sitting.
Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours and react quickly to emergencies.
Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals.
Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, and climbing stairs.
Education and Certification Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
MD Armed Guard Card.
DHS Suitability – Tri‑Annual Refresher Exhibit.
CPR/American Red Cross Certification.li>
MD Security Guard Certification (Unarmed).
N.W.DTP Training.
National Weapons Detection Training Program.
Firearms Qualification.
FPS Orientation Certificate.
MEB Expandable Baton.
Initials Weapon Training.
Basic Training Exhibits (72/64 hours).
O.C. aerosol spray.
