We are one of the most established and longstanding boutique firms in Florida and have been working with upwardly mobile professionals since 1998.
Our client – a prominent nonprofit organization – has asked for assistance in recruiting a new role for their finance organization.
Job Purpose Reporting to the CFO, the VP Accounting and FP&A assures transparent reporting and understanding of the operating performance and financial position.
This role will maintain all financial records of the organization and prepare reports including financial statements, budgets, cash flow projections and budget variance analysis. Assist the CFO with strategic planning and forecasting.
Essential Functions
Oversee daily accounting functions and manage staff, as needed
Maintain the reliability, verifiability, timeliness, usefulness, completeness and accuracy of all accounting transactions, processes, and systems
Prepare and monitor cash flow
Perform accounting, grant management and financial planning and reporting for various grants
Prepare interim financial statements, budget analyses, cash flow reports, campaign reports and others as required
Monitor and evaluate investment performance to the investment policy statement, along with financial advisors and the Investment Committee
Prepare annual budget with input from appropriate staff and ensure compliance with budget amounts and provide explanation for budget variances
Act as primary contact for auditors, oversee annual audit process including preparation of supporting documentation, draft audited financial statements, and Form 990 tax returns
Ensure internal controls are maintained throughout the organization
Timely preparation and completion of the annual audit and 990 with independent CPA firm
Work directly with the CFO, Finance Committee and Board of Directors to advance the objectives of the organization
Assure appropriate internal controls, evaluate and maintain adequate insurance to safeguard assets and minimize risks
Oversee staff to assure availability and maintenance of physical assets
Attend required staff meetings and training
Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business with an accounting concentration
CPA strongly preferred
Minimum four years management experience in accounting; minimum 2–3 years in a not‑for‑profit environment (preferred)
Strong business acumen, supervisory and leadership experience
Experience managing payroll and benefits
Proficient in windows‑based network applications
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with expertise in MS Excel
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online – Advanced
Communicate effectively with staff, community leaders and Board members
Experience managing ongoing projects simultaneously and handling competing deadlines
Coordinate multiple activities with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality; organize and prioritize and meet deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skills
Supervise, train and evaluate direct reports as needed
Ability to work as a team member
