The Role We’re looking for a skilled Sensory Scientist to lead and support sensory research that drives product innovation, quality improvements, and consumer satisfaction. In this role, you’ll design, execute, and analyze sensory studies to evaluate taste, texture, aroma, and overall perception of our products. You’ll collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, and Marketing teams to deliver actionable sensory insights that guide product development and ensure consistency across all SKUs.
What You’ll Do
Develop and maintain sensory panels (trained and/or untrained panelists).
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to benchmark sensory consistency across product development and quality.
Create and maintain sensory standards and protocols to ensure consistency and quality control.
Train internal and external teams on sensory standards and testing protocols.
Design and conduct sensory tests (discrimination, descriptive, and consumer studies).
Analyze sensory data using statistical tools and translate results into actionable quality benchmarks.
Ensure all sensory research complies with ethical and regulatory guidelines.
Write, maintain, and train the team on sensory‑related SOPs.
Travel to manufacturers to train teams and maintain sensory consistency across all SKUs.
Develop sensory aspects for raw material and finished goods specifications.
What We’re Looking
For Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Sensory Science, Statistics, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in sensory science, ideally within food, dietary supplements, or flavor industries.
Strong knowledge of sensory methodologies, experimental design, and data analysis.
Proficiency in sensory software and tools such as Excel, Python, RedJade, or R.
Excellent communication and reporting skills.
Proven ability to create and manage sensory programs independently.
Experience training technicians and untrained panelists for sensory evaluations.
Skilled in identifying and describing discrepancies between ingredients and suppliers based on taste and aroma.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with attention to detail.
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Strong sensory skills to differentiate products by taste and smell.
No food aversions, allergies, caffeine, or melatonin sensitivities (due to product testing).
Knowledge of coffee and mushrooms is a plus.
