Role Summary We are seeking a HIL Designer to join our team in Palo Alto, CA. In this role you will be a key player in designing and maintaining HIL (Hardware‑In‑The‑Loop) systems used for software integration testing. You will be responsible for developing test hardware and cable harnesses to implement HIL test systems. Our team values someone who’s curious, detailed‑oriented, and driven to find solutions.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with hardware and software teams and lead the planning and development of automotive HIL systems.
Design custom test PCBAs to interface with automotive ECUs.
Design the mechanical layout, ECU mounts, and cable harnesses.
Develop and maintain all documentation, diagrams, and test instructions for the HILs.
Support, maintain, and modify existing HILs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Strong understanding of electronic and electrical first principles.
Proficient with schematic capture and PCB layout tools.
Strong circuit board bring‑up and troubleshooting skills.
Strong C/C++ programming skills.
Proficient with software development on embedded microcontrollers.
Experience programming STM32 ARM‑based embedded systems is a plus.
Experience with automotive communication protocols such as LIN, CAN, CANFD, automotive Ethernet is a plus.
Demonstrable experience with Python scripting.
Familiarity with 2D and 3D mechanical drawing programs.
Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced development environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
An inherent curiosity and a strong desire to learn new technologies.
Salary California Based Applicants: $93,000 - $116,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
