Role Summary The M/E Engineer 3 will complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities. This position is responsible for collecting and assembling data, developing estimates, and generating systems and bid analysis. All activities support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.

Key Role Responsibilities – Core

Autonomy & Decision-Making: Makes decisions on routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor, and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Career Path: Senior M/E Engineer.

Goes through safety and quality plans, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment.

Completes entry level and routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.

Develops budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information using an automated M/E estimating system.

Assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and completes systems analysis for select projects.

Develops mechanical and electrical scopes of work for bid process.

Reviews and completes bid analysis; provides input during subcontractor selection.

Develops sequencing requirements for various systems and provides schedule solutions.

Reviews design documents to identify potential quality problems and assists in constructability review reports.

Performs job inspections to ensure specifications are met and work is completed on time and to quality standards.

Assists with shop drawing/submittal process to comply with contract documents.

Assists with commissioning process, including pre‑functional checklists and functional testing.

Leads, supports, and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities – Additional Core

Completes increasingly complex mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities.

Develops budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design.

Reviews mechanical and electrical options, performs system analysis, recommends best system, and provides value engineering suggestions.

Coordinates mechanical and electrical scopes of work during bid process.

Develops sequencing requirements and provides scheduling input.

Reviews design documents, identifies quality issues, and helps develop quality control programs.

Performs job inspections to ensure specifications are met and work is completed in quality manner.

Develops pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verifies contractors’ performance.

Reviews and approves shop drawings prior to submission to design team.

Generates and issues the Commissioning Plan for approval.

Verifies deficiencies are corrected and submits commissioning documentation.

Provides mentoring to less experienced co‑workers.

Creates M/E tools and innovative solutions to improve processes and products.

Leads diversity and inclusion initiatives and enforces JE Dunn’s non‑discrimination policy.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to perform work accurately, completely, and timely.

Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).

Ability to read and understand plans, drawings, and specifications.

Develop proficiency in JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.

Knowledge of construction methods and management.

Ability to build relationships and collaborate within and outside the team.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering, or related field (Required).

Equivalent relevant experience considered.

Experience

5+ years of construction and/or engineering experience (Preferred).

Working Environment

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
