Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mission Critical, Traveler JE Dunn’s Advanced Facilities Group (AFG) combines Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing into one high‑performing team. As part of the Advanced Facilities team, you will work on advanced construction projects across the country, growing your career alongside diverse industry professionals.

Role Summary The M/E Engineer 3 will complete increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities. Responsibilities include collecting and assembling data, developing estimates, and generating systems and bid analysis to support JE Dunn’s strategy, vision and values.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core

Learns and actively participates in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans and culture.

Completes entry level and routine mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.

Develops budgetary M/E estimates using program and schematic design information.

Assists in reviewing mechanical and electrical options during preconstruction and completes systems analysis for select projects.

Develops the mechanical and electrical scopes of work used during the bid process.

Assists in bid analysis and provides input during the subcontractor selection process.

Assists in developing sequencing requirements of various systems and provides solutions to meet schedule requirements.

Reviews design documents to identify potential quality problems and assists in constructability review reports.

Performs job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.

Assists with shop drawing/submittal process to comply with contract documents.

Assists in the commissioning process, including developing pre‑functional checklists, functional testing procedures and actual functional testing.

Leads, supports and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core

Completes increasingly complex mechanical, electrical and field construction activities.

Develops budgetary M/E estimates based on program and schematic design information.

Reviews mechanical and electrical options, completes system analysis, recommends best system and provides value engineering suggestions.

Coordinates mechanical and electrical scopes of work during the bid process.

Provides scheduling input during projects.

Reviews design documents and identifies potential quality problems; helps develop quality control programs.

Performs job inspections to ensure specifications and expectations are met.

Develops pre‑functional checklists and functional testing procedures; verifies contractor performance of functional test.

Reviews and approves shop drawings prior to submission to design team.

Generates and issues the Commissioning Plan for approval.

Verifies deficiencies are corrected and submits commissioning documentation to owners.

Provides mentoring to less experienced co‑workers.

Creates M/E tools and innovative solutions to improve processes and work products.

Leads, supports and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Accurate and timely work performance.

Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.

Intermediate proficiency in MS Office.

Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.

Proficiency with basic JE Dunn construction M/E tools and software.

Knowledge of construction methods and management.

Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architectural engineering or related field (Required).

In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience

5+ years construction and/or engineering experience (Preferred).

Working Environment

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
