JOB DESCRIPTION
HealthPartners is hiring a Mammography Technologist Lead I.
POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT Performs mammography screenings according to ACR guidelines. Interacts with patients in a professional and caring manner. Ensures mammography procedures are followed and maintains patient images and records in accordance with organizational policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Completion of an Initial Mammography Training Program.
Licensure / Registration / Certification
Currently registered ARRT.
Initial Mammography Training Certificate or proof of 40 hours training.
ARRT Mammography Certification within 12 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong knowledge in anatomy, mammographic positioning, and proper application of radiographic principles.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of patients, ages, cultures, and physical conditions.
Demonstrated computer skills necessary to perform lead duties.
Demonstrated Skills Including
Ability to guide and monitor others in using the Care Model process to provide care to patients and their families.
Ability to document performance and provide effective feedback to employees.
Ability to instruct coworkers on job duties.
Ability to have difficult conversations with coworkers.
Ability to motivate and influence staff to achieve department needs and goals.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships necessary to perform lead duties.
Ability to lead by example and answer questions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Recent work experience as a Mammographer (within the last 12 months).
Eight (8) hours training of DBT.
Eight (8) hours training of 3D (Tomo).
Licensure / Registration / Certification (Preferred)
Member of MSRT or ASRT.
ARRT Mammography Certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Preferred) Essential Duties
Obtains mammographic views at a high level and according to ACR guidelines.
Processes images in accordance with established protocols.
Positions and interacts with patients in a professional, caring, and courteous manner to ensure quality care.
Complies with defined procedures for mammographic examinations to provide appropriate radiographic information for the Radiologists’ interpretation.
Ensures proper protective and safety measures for patients and staff.
Ensures mammography quality control procedures are followed and demonstrates expertise in problem solving.
Demonstrates proficiency in operation of all equipment; reports malfunctions or need for adjustments or repair to leader or service vendor.
Implements the established protocol to meet Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) guidelines.
Documents patient information accurately and completely and keeps records regarding clinical practice.
Maintains accurate knowledge of file room and image processing procedures and efficiently performs responsibilities as required.
Maintains a neat and clean environment for patients and colleagues, stocks supplies, and informs appropriate individual of low stock or specific needs.
Utilizes appropriate lines of communication for problem solving and conflict management.
Performs other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, working in a Radiologic Technologist capacity as needed.
Products high quality radiographs with minimal errors.
Maintains knowledge of HealthPartners policies and procedures (ongoing).
Lead Duties
Leader will assign lead duties. Lead 1 must perform at least four of the bolded items.
Hiring
Recommends filling or not filling a vacancy or adding to staff.
Assists Supervisor in interviewing or, in some instances, conducts interviews without involvement of a Supervisor.
Recommends hiring candidate to Supervisor.
May communicate offer of employment from Supervisor to candidate.
Scheduling
Prepares staffing schedule.
Employees call lead if absent or late.
Coverage for planned and unplanned absences.
After the semi-annual vacation bidding process, grants daily vacation requests.
Approves timecards completed by Employees.
May approve working of overtime if specifically delegated by Supervisor.
Evaluation
Documents performance.
After the performance review has been discussed with and approved by the Supervisor, conducts the performance review with the Employee.
Performance Management
Documents performance.
Communicates to Employee that performance is deficient or behavior is inappropriate.
Coaches Employee in improving and setting workable goals (does not include disciplining the Employee and could represent a step prior to an oral reprimand).
Attends discipline discussion with Supervisor and Employee to provide information relevant to the discipline, including attending grievance hearings.
Other
Assists in preparing unit budget.
Assists a Supervisor/Manager in work unit annual planning.
Assigns work.
Trains Employees and sets up and schedules training procedures (not limited to leads).
Directs Employees.
Within the work unit, the Supervisor/Manager shall discuss with the lead(s) his/her appropriate lead job functions as outlined above and that a lead is not to be assigned job functions outside of those listed above. In recognition of the responsibility of leads, they shall be given adequate time to perform these duties.
