Job Title Automation Engineer
Job Description The Automation & Operational Technology Engineer is responsible for delivering technical hands‑on support for site‑based automation and operational technology systems. This role ensures the integrity, reliability, security, and compliance of infrastructure and industrial automation platforms across manufacturing, utilities, quality control, and laboratory environments. The engineer designs automated equipment and machinery to complete processes and tasks that were previously manual, implements automated tests to evaluate system integrity, and identifies areas where automation can enhance production and efficiency. Additionally, the engineer provides technical support for automated systems and writes documentation manuals detailing automated processes and changes in equipment design or operation.
Responsibilities
Deliver technical hands‑on support for site‑based automation and operational technology systems.
Ensure integrity, reliability, security, and compliance of infrastructure and industrial automation platforms.
Design automated equipment and machinery to complete manual processes.
Implement automated tests to evaluate system integrity.
Identify areas where automation can improve production and efficiency.
Provide technical support for automated systems.
Write documentation manuals detailing automated processes and documenting changes in equipment design or operation.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of experience in automation engineering.
Experience with environmental monitoring systems, building automation systems, process control systems, manufacturing execution systems, and laboratory information management systems.
Data integrity and cybersecurity knowledge.
Understanding of GMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and Annex 11 requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Support system lifecycle management from design through validation.
Experience in supporting CAPEX/OPEX projects.
Experience in ensuring regulatory readiness.
Work Environment The work environment involves utilizing various technologies including environmental monitoring systems (EMS), building automation systems, process control systems (PCS), manufacturing execution systems (MES/EBR), and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). The role requires maintaining data integrity, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance in alignment with industry standards.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Walkersville, Maryland.
Pay And Benefits Pay range: $31.34 – $52.23 per hour.
