Overview & Key Responsibilities The Flight Operations Support Technical Writer is responsible for the standardization and quality of assigned technical, procedural and/or policy manuals.

Responsible for organizing, maintaining and communicating pilot policies and procedures, including time critical bulletins and sensitive security information

The Technical Writer maintains familiarity with relevant fleet issues and is responsible for processing and producing high-quality content as directed and coordinated through the Technical Writer – Team Lead

Interfaces directly with Delta fleet leadership and respective FAA designee for content/manual related issues.

Translates and distills input from subject matter experts into clear, highly readable, professionally formatted products

Authors bulletins and manual revisions for operating manuals, system description manuals, training manuals, checklists, emergency handbooks, and/or assorted guides for assigned fleet(s)

Solicits and receives continuous feedback for improvement from line pilots, instructors, and line check pilots, regulatory and technical professionals.

Researches and analyzes source documents and regulatory information (Federal Aviation Regulations, Airworthiness Directives, Notices of Proposed Rulemaking, etc.), manufacturer’s information (manual revisions, directives, alerts, etc.) and internal technical documentation

Responsible for the version control of manuals, documentation source control, and file management

The Technical Writer role contributes directly to the safe, on-time performance of the airline, and the achievement of Flight Operations objectives

Practices safety conscious behaviors in all processes and procedures.

This role is 30-40 hours per week

Minimum Qualifications

Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.

Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

One year of training related work experience

Ability to multi-task in fast-paces environments

Ability to work in both a team and independent environment

Must possess basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook and Word

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and associated guidance

Previous airline experience

Basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel

Basic to intermediate skills in Adobe FrameMaker or similar authoring platform

Experience using Content Management Systems (CMS)

Smartsheet proficiency

Experience using Adobe Acrobat
