About the Role:
We are seeking a hands-on, self-motivated Operations & Systems Engineer to support the day-to-day operations of a dynamic MEC 5G Test and Development Lab. This lab enables rapid prototyping and validation of next-gen 5G, edge, and AI solutions in a low‑red‑tape environment. You’ll work closely with a small, agile team to ensure the lab remains operational, secure, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
Develop resilient product solutions for MEC environments.
Architect systems with redundancy, resource optimization, and OpenShift integration.
Automate deployments, updates, and monitoring processes.
Build automated tools for configuration, updates, and health checks.
Implement active/passive monitoring and provide data‑driven troubleshooting.
Partner with internal teams to deliver robust MEC solutions.
Analyze system health and updates, offering actionable insights.
Maintain detailed project documentation and lab records.
Manage scripts/configs in on‑prem Git repositories.
Update IPAM tools (e.g., NetBox) with deployed configurations.
Rack and connect servers, switches, and cables to build efficient infrastructure.
Perform daily maintenance: patching, firmware updates, backups, and storage provisioning.
Manage Linux systems (primarily Ubuntu) and user accounts.
Support Kubernetes‑based container environments and assist in VMware‑to‑Kubernetes migration.
Monitor and optimize resource allocation across 1–30+ concurrent POCs.
Collaborate with internal teams to support test environments for software/hardware POCs.
Maintain Cisco‑based network infrastructure, VLANs, and storage systems (NetApp, IBM Flash).
Assist with firewall/VPN maintenance (Palo Alto).
Automate tasks using Python, Ansible, and other scripting tools.
Key Qualifications Summary
Broad technical knowledge across systems, networking, and DevOps disciplines.
Strong Linux administration experience, especially with Ubuntu.
Experience with OpenShift, OpenStack, Kubernetes, Red Hat; VMware is a plus.
Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, KVM (e.g., Proxmox, XCP‑NG).
Experience or interest in data science, machine learning, and AI is a plus.
Scripting and automation skills using Python and Ansible.
Working knowledge of Cisco networking, VLANs, and enterprise storage.
Familiarity with firewall/VPN solutions, preferably Palo Alto.
Proactive, adaptable, and eager to learn in a fast‑evolving lab environment.
Willingness to participate in datacenter setup and maintenance.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to support cross‑functional teams.
