Overview
Join the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney 2 (DDA 2). The office prosecutes state felony and misdemeanor charges in Multnomah County and is a leader in drug courts, diversion programs, community courts, and neighborhood prosecution. DDA 2s handle minor felony cases and work closely with law enforcement and community.
Compensation Semimonthly pay: $4,842.59 - $6,185.22. Job Type: Full‑time, regular, union‑represented; overtime eligible.
Responsibilities
Review police reports and evidence to make charging decisions.
Advise law enforcement and community members on legal matters.
Prepare felony cases for trial, including trial strategy, witnesses, legal motions and memoranda.
Negotiate case resolutions, analyze admissibility, prepare briefs and litigate pre‑trial motions.
Appear in court representing the State in arraignments, grand jury proceedings, trial phases, plea entries, sentencing hearings, and probation violation hearings.
Required Minimum Qualifications
At least 3 years of criminal prosecution experience or 8+ years as a practicing lawyer.
Prior jury trial experience.
Member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar, or awaiting bar acceptance or reciprocal admission.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good judgment and organizational skills; ability to work with others and interpret legal analysis.
Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of criminal law practice and Oregon criminal procedure.
Strong academic record.
Resident of Multnomah County.
Willingness to assist with complex major felony prosecution.
Experience in drug courts, diversion, community courts, or related programs.
