Strategic Sourcing Manager

will drive value for the business by partnering with stakeholders across multiple departments to deliver source-to-contract activities for various R&D services. This role is responsible for negotiating and contracting with the supply base and ensuring alignment with established category strategies and overall business plans. It requires delivering strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation. The Strategic Sourcing Manager must be a change agent, leading by example while remaining in sync with the direction and evolution of the Strategic Sourcing organization. The role requires active category knowledge and change management support to challenge traditional spending behavior, service level definition, and policy setting to enable productivity and efficiency improvements. The role includes development and execution of Sourcing Category Plans, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring alignment with category strategies and business goals. Strong collaboration with business partners and peers is essential. The individual will seek opportunities to be a proactive advisor, maintaining deep knowledge of supply markets and delivery models, and leading analytics efforts to identify sourcing opportunities. Responsibilities

Manage strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation across various R&D services. Develop and implement sourcing category strategies that align with functional goals and objectives. Establish ongoing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure Strategic Sourcing activities support functional strategies. Define and implement supplier management to enable sustainable competitive advantage; focus on supplier risk and performance management. Maintain knowledge and expertise with various R&D services; negotiate SLAs/KPIs and leverage levers to achieve optimal value. Negotiate and redline service contracts and statements of work using a contract management platform. Generate sourcing insights using spend analytics, industry intelligence, and benchmarking data. Lead end-to-end competitive sourcing activities (RFx) including bid list generation, requirements, supplier criteria/weighting, cost analysis, business case, and award notification. Maintain sourcing practices in accordance with corporate ethics, financial policy, and internal control requirements. Pursue ongoing development of relevant skills (data-driven insights, business partnering, change and project management, category management, strategic sourcing) to realize optimization. Knowledge, Skills & Education

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Minimum 8–12 years (without Master’s) or 6–8 years (with Master’s) of relevant experience in strategic sourcing & procurement; preference toward experience in specific spend categories. Pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical or life sciences experience is a bonus. Relevant experience: 3–5 years in strategic sourcing & procurement across service categories in the R&D space, preferably with CRO and vendor contract negotiation/oversight; pharmaceutical/healthcare/life sciences industry experience a bonus. Technology: Proficient with contract lifecycle management, e-sourcing, spend analytics, and supplier risk management; strong learning aptitude. Leadership: Ability to contribute to and lead cross-functional teams, strong negotiation, communication, and change management skills. Analytics: Ability to generate spend analyses and translate insights into action plans. Business Partnering: Collaborative approach to build relationships with business leaders. Change and Innovation: Seek solutions that improve quality, value, service, and efficiency; challenge the status quo respectfully. Customer Value: Anticipate market trends and deliver on commitments. Business Acumen and Agility: Understand business specifics and engage in strategic planning. Other Requirements

CPSM/CPM a plus. Work hours may include meetings outside normal hours. Travel up to 10%. Compensation : The base salary range for this role is $126,200 to $157,800. Base salary is part of total rewards, including merit-based increases, incentive plans, 401(k), health benefits, and leaves, with total compensation dependent on experience and qualifications.
