for the San Diego Community College District. The position is part‑time adjunct faculty, offering flexible hours and assignments across the district’s campuses.
Responsibilities
Field and lab instruction in cosmetology, esthetics, nail technician, barber and cross‑over courses.
Provide instruction in accordance with approved curriculum and course outlines.
Maintain professional standards of conduct and ethics, and keep current knowledge of subject matter.
Attend to students outside of class, and maintain accurate records.
Teach all scheduled classes and create an environment that emphasizes discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR an associate degree and at least 6 years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR the equivalent.
Demonstrated cultural competency; sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
Desired Qualifications
License in Cosmetology or Esthetics.
California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life).
Foreign degree evaluation from NACES or ACEI, if applicable.
Other Requirements
Submit official college transcripts.
Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
Complete a live‑scan fingerprint clearance prior to first day of employment.
Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
