Full‑time Certified Veterinary Technician

to join our growing team! Non‑credentialed technicians are encouraged to apply.

$2,000 Sign‑on Bonus

Location & Schedule 5328 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55419

Hospital Hours: Monday‑Friday 7:30 am‑6 pm, Saturday 7:30 am‑1 pm, closed on Sundays.

Schedule: Must have full‑time availability; 4‑day work weeks.

Compensation $25‑$28 per hour.

Job Summary The Certified Veterinary Technician provides leadership and training to the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures and provides medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act. The Certified Veterinary Technician will be able to communicate effectively with team members and clients and have great attention to detail and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.

Provide guidance to the support staff to assure that the shift flows smoothly.

Mentor team members for career advancement and personal development toward goals.

Provide input to the hospital manager for 360‑degree employee performance evaluations.

Provide patient care under the supervision and direction of a DVM.

Maintain excellent client communication.

Record all pertinent medical, client, and case‑related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and information.

Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.

Answer client’s inquiries about basic animal care questions and routine procedures; handle client’s medical questions with confidence and direct to veterinarians when appropriate.

Additional Functions

Provide client care for scheduling appointments, taking payments, and checking in clients.

Answer the phone in a courteous and informative manner.

Provide feedback and changes to the training program.

Take part in job shadows or working interviews as necessary.

Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficient in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.

Demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations and handle a fast‑paced environment.

Stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.

Give SQ, IM, and IV injections.

Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side‑effects for common prescription drugs and can explain to clients.

Knowledge of common anesthesia and recovery states and alert veterinarians when symptoms change or concerns arise with hospitalized patients.

Properly extubate, monitor temperature, and recover a patient from anesthesia.

Strong reasoning, memory, math, language skills (reading, writing, speaking English).

Confident around pets.

Required Education & Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

State Department of Regulation licensing required.

1+ years of veterinary industry experience.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb; lift up to 50 lb alone and >50 lb with a coworker.

Endure sitting, standing, walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods.

Perform duties while in a hospital environment.

Work in noisy conditions with high noise levels from animals and equipment.

Exposure to pets that may bite or scratch; occasional exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, medication/controlled substances.

Hearing verbal instructions; adequate vision including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, adjust focus.

Good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand‑finger dexterity; use keyboard; operate equipment.

Travel required: Minimal travel for vendor visits and associate education.
