Position Overview HR Business Partner (HRBP) – a strategic partner responsible for aligning HR initiatives with business objectives at Stop & Shop, a retail organization with a century‑long history of serving customers and communities. The HRBP will provide consistent HR leadership, leveraging business, operational, analytical, and talent management expertise to add value, drive business success, and foster an engaging, high‑performing culture.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the HRBP Lead to implement a unified HR Business Partner model that delivers analytics‑driven support and drives business goals.

Continuously assess and refine the HRBP model based on feedback and evolving business needs.

Stay current on industry best practices, trends, and emerging HR innovations.

Partner with business leaders to identify and develop organizational capabilities, behaviors, structures, and processes that support business strategy.

Work closely with functional leaders to assess key business performance targets and their impact on talent needs.

Counsel managers on company policies, legal compliance, and employee relations while balancing both company and associate interests.

Provide strategic insights and action plans to improve associate engagement and build a strong, positive organizational culture.

Champion diversity and inclusion across all HR disciplines, including staffing, employee relations, and learning & development.

Lead internal communications, including announcements and change management, to ensure smooth transitions during business changes.

Collaborate with business functions to forecast and plan talent pipeline needs in alignment with business strategy.

Drive talent recruitment and pipeline initiatives by utilizing strategic workforce plans and collaborating with Talent/Learning teams to implement innovative recruitment strategies.

Support college recruitment efforts to strengthen the talent pipeline for future succession planning.

Ensure diversity within talent acquisition by promoting a diverse slate of candidates for all positions.

Foster associate engagement through visible and active participation in HRBP initiatives.

Cultivate strong relationships with business leaders, providing strategic guidance and analytics to support business goals.

Act as an internal consultant to the business, proactively identifying issues and addressing concerns such as associate engagement, interpersonal conflicts, and work conditions.

Promote a performance‑driven culture by ensuring associates understand how their individual performance contributes to overall business success.

Lead development initiatives such as Management Development and Succession Planning, ensuring Individual Development Plans (IDPs) are in place and progressing for high‑potential associates.

Support business leaders in selecting learning and leadership development opportunities tailored to the specific needs of their teams.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field (required).

3–5 years of experience in HR.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

Effective presentation and public speaking skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level).

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

Strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence.

Ability to work effectively as a team player.

Willingness to travel 10–20% of the time outside the home office.

Labor relations/union experience (if posted externally).
